Numbers 10:9 (paraphrase) When you arrive in the Promised Land and go to war against your enemies, God will hear you and save you from your enemies when you sound the alarm with these trumpets.
The first thing that strikes me about this verse is that God is speaking and saying 'when you arrive in the Promised Land and go to war'. He is saying, 'When you get to where I've called you, to the place that is the center of my will for you, and my promise for you - there WILL be war. You will have enemies, and you will be in strife with them. ' We all like to think, there is a place on earth, where we will be in the center of God's will and have no enemies, and there will be no strife. Where once we get there - it will be ahhhh and wow. And it will be but it won't be only ahhhh and wow. It will also be dealing with the enemies, that God has allowed to be there - so we will call on God. We will use the means we have to sound the alarm and ask God to hear us and save us. I love this. God apparently knows he needs to allow things in our life to keep getting our attention off whatever is around us and back to realizing a need for him. Even in the Promised Land. Even where we know he has put us - without a doubt. It's comforting in a way, that the strife I experience is simply so I can call on God to help me.
